"..Those who have never heard electronic contemporary jazz before should listen with an open mind and ears,
forgetting anything such as traditional swing, blue notes and the like. This is the 21st century after all
and Aarset intends to do it justice..." - there is nothing to add! (nn)

Nils Petter Molvaers 5 gig tour in Poland is cancelled because a local promotor stole the money
from the different arrangers and fled the country. He has not yet been caught.

This is what NPM himself says on Myspace: Poland tour again.

It seems like the planned tour in Poland does not want to be "executed"? First the President dies in a planecrash, and we have to cancel.
Then we plan to go on tour in mid. november, and the local promotor disappear from the face of the earth, witout informing us.We then
learn that the concerts is cancelled(a week before the start of the tour!!!!!),and that the promotor has comitted some crime and is on the
run abroad. Sound like a bad movie.Anyway...to all the people that has bought tickets and wanted to hear the concert...I´m really sorry.
We will hopefully try again ....with a different promotor. Until then... All the best to everyone. regards, Nils Petter (jtu)

> John Kelman reviewed Food "Quiet Inlay" where Nils Petter Molvaer contributed:
"Even as a duo, Food generates a lot of sound. Strønen, in particular, combines bastardized drum kit, hand percussion and technology into a distinctive soundscaping approach, from pulse-driven to textural; spatially ethereal to jagged and dense. Ballamy's more economical playing is equally key in establishing a group sound, and based on its performance at Punkt 2006, Food could easily have continued on as a duo, but increases the unpredictability quotient by introducing a third player to the set."

Thursday June 3rd, Nils Petter Molvaer will be playing with Bergen Big Band at Grieghallen, Bergen, Norway.
The concert is arranged by Bergen International Festival (www.fib.no) and Nattjazz (www.nattjazz.no).

The idea for the event comes from Bergen Big Band, and they also picked the tunes to play. Some of them NPM hasn’t played for twelve years, he says. At first NPM couldn’t quite see how it would be possible to arrange his music for this format.

The solution was to ask Rolf Wallin and Per Zanussi to do the arrangments.NPM also picked  Christian Eggen as a conductor for Bergen Big Band for this concert. NPM and BBB are joined on stage by Jan Bang.

The Reluctantly Politicised Mr. James is the second album by Spin Marvel, a group that wowed critics on their debut self-titled album in 2005. Led by drummer Martin France, it features some of Europe’s most progressive improvisers and finest musicians and, with the addition of celebrated trumpeter Nils Peter Molvaer, marks a giant leap forward for the band and reflects some of the most exciting music currently bursting out of the European scene.
musicians: Martin France – drums, Nils Petter Molvaer – trumpet, John Parricelli – guitar, Tim Harries – bass, Terje Evensen – Percussion / Sound-Audio Editor (nn)
  > David Sylvian’s samadhisound imprint is steadily carving out a distinct niche in the between the improv scene and art-rock world.
The label has just released three new albums of work, with Jan Bang’s “and poppies from Kandahar,” being a good place to start for a newbie to the label. The conclusion, “Exile from Paradise,” is a performance of Sidsel Endresen’s “Undertow” that features Jon Hassell on trumpet. The musicians used a piece that was performed in one room and then remixed it with their own overlay a few minutes later.
U.S.-based guitarist Akira Rabelais’s solo affair, “Caduceus,” another of the label’s new offerings, is a feedback-drenched excursion into the wilder world of noise. The album features Rabelais’s self-developed software - the Argeïphontes Lyre - which allows chance effects.

the final track, Leaps and Bounds, marks a circular return to the opening of the album, with Nizamettin Aric’s superb vocals guiding us into the most highly charged track on the album. the buildup is tense, but the tension never breaks, instead being sustained through changes in percussion and harmonic trumpet until Nizamettin Aric returns, heralding an increase in tension that snaps and falls into a dreamlike ending that segues into the distance. watch a video snippet here

16. February 2010 >

This short article came from New Musical Express "Time Out London":

Nils Petter Molvaer Band
"Norwegian trumpeter, producer and composer Molvaer stops off on his UK tour with his feisty new band of guitarist Eivind Arset, drummer Audun Kleive and sample genius Jan Bang, playing dark and moody material from his latest album 'Hamada' (Emarcy). His fine fusion of breakbeats, ambient sounds and spooky atmospherics - which have established him as one of the leading lights of 'Scandijazz' - are further enhanced by an eye-popping light show."

seems that they are providing "olds": correct lineup should be Molvaer-Westerhus-Kleive. on tour:

3. February 2010 > It's no secret that Scandinavia has been a musical hotspot for the past decade; artists in Norway and Sweden have been churning out deeply pleasurable pop, rock and electronic music, making a worldwide splash unseen since the days of Abba. The jazz, improvisational and experimental music of the region attract far less attention, but artistically, few other spots seem as potent these days. Both Sweden and Norway have deep jazz traditions. Swedish artists like Lars Gullin, Arne Domnerus and Jan Johansson first put the country on the map, while Norwegian jazz made itself felt through key releases on the German label ECM in the early '70s, when artists like Jan Garbarek, Terje Rypdal and Arild Andersen developed a new sound that tapped into local folk traditions with an austere, pastel sound.
